DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Detection Module

The DJI Matrice 4 drone's obstacle detection module combines two advanced technologies: rotating LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar. This combination ensures effective obstacle detection even in low-light conditions, enhancing flight safety in complex terrain. The system is designed to operate in complex infrastructure environments, such as power distribution networks and the dense spaces of transformer stations.

Effective in difficult conditions

Thanks to the use of LiDAR and radar, the module can effectively detect objects of various shapes and materials, even in conditions of limited visibility. It performs particularly well in places where traditional sensors might fail—in the dark, with dense infrastructure, or in areas with difficult GNSS access. However, it's worth remembering that the system's effectiveness may be limited by environmental factors such as rain, fog, or heavy dust, as well as by the shape or movement of objects, such as birds or moving cranes.

Hassle-free installation

Installation of the module should be performed with the drone powered off. It is recommended to fully tighten the rear screws and use the included Allen key for secure installation. After installation, update the software on all devices and follow the in-app prompts. Before each flight, it is worth checking that the module is operating properly—ideally in good weather conditions and with a strong GNSS signal.

Safe use

The sensor contains precision components that can be damaged by a fall or strong impact. We recommend handling the device with care and storing it with a protective cover when not in use. Some countries have restrictions on radar operation; please consult your local DJI distributor before flying in such regions.
